2022: Hommage à M.L. et R.A.

Below are the images from Clifford Peterson’s 2022 eleventh annual calendar, which is a visual diary of 2021 as well as an imagining of what is to come in 2022.

The calendar images May through October come from Clifford’s Hommage à M.L. et R.A. series of drawings, paintings, and digital transformations.

Hommage à M.L. et R.A. honors Peterson’s recently deceased centenarian mother-in-law, Mae Lee, and her decades-long neighborly and working relationship with Ruth Asawa and her iconic wire sculptures and community projects.

EunHyung Chung (February) transformed not only Peterson’s October 2021 calendar image into sculpture (March) but also turned drawings from Clifford’s Hommage series into sculpture maquettes (July and September).

January is painting in the winter studio, while April is the first re-collecting of the first 10 years of calendar images.

November and December are digital colorations of a few of the nearly one thousand drawings Peterson created in 2021.
